Described by Jazzwise magazine as a “gloriously co-operative venture” that presents “sizzling live shows,” the 2024 JUNO-nominated Canadian Jazz Collective is co-led by three Canadian jazz greats - Kirk MacDonald (saxophone), Lorne Lofsky (guitar), and Derrick Gardner, (trumpet). Recognized for the “gloriously democratic feel” of their work together, the CJC’s intergenerational septet also features rising star Virginia MacDonald on clarinet along with touring veterans Brian Dickinson (piano), Neil Swainson (bass), and Austrian drummer Bernd Reiter. With inventive arrangements and a collaborative approach to original jazz, the CJC Septet blends the unique artistic vision and deep compositional catalogues of its leaders into one powerful and cohesive voice. Having made a splash during two European tours in 2022 and 2023 and their American debut in spring 2024, this world-class ensemble always delivers a show-stopping event!
