Peter Hum
Fri, Feb 7, 2025
Pianist/composer Peter Hum has been a mainstay of Ottawa's jazz scene for more than three decades. Largely self-taught, Peter was bitten by the jazz bug when he was a teenager growing up in Ottawa, captivated by the music of Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett. He counts himself very fortunate to have performed with such Canadian jazz legends as Phil Nimmons, Pat LaBarbera, Phil Nimmons and Reg Schwager. He has released three well-received albums as a leader, all supported by the City of Ottawa's creation and production fund, and has performed in leading Canadian jazz venues and festivals from Charlottetown to Vancouver. He has also been a journalist with the Ottawa Citizen, the leading newspaper in Canada's capital, since 1990.
